Sarah Oliver started by hand knitting every stitch in her homemade handbags. She would give the handbags as gifts and when they proved so popular she decided to go into business. Sarah grew up watching her relatives knit and so she went to the local Redwoods Senior Retirement Community and hired knitters from that community. They are now dubbed the Purlettes + one, the one being the lone man knitter.
Not only has Sarah Oliver created some interesting and unique handbags but she has hired some talented knitters from the local community that might not otherwise have been able to showcase their talents. Is there some business you could start or already have that might be able to take advantage of unused talent in your area?
